John,
I am not too sure I understand exactly what you want and so will probably
miss the point but....
I run XP and use the Slimserver Shoutcast plugin, which enables me to view
all the Shoutcast staitions in genre categories and play any one. It's a
great plugin and may of the stations are pure magic (great music and no
obnoxious adverts or vacuous presenters). The plugin can be got here:
http://www.dur.ac.uk/p.j.heslin/amusements/shoutcast_plugin.html
To get it to work I think you may need to run the latest nighly build of
Slimserver and a install a few more perl scripts than are mentioned on the
page. I can send them to you if want them. (I had lots of help from KDF when
setting it up)

To get Windows WMA streams working I am trying to set up this plugin:
http://www.kolumbus.fi/jewel.tapsta/WmaStream/WmaStream.html
but at the moment it crashes my SlimServer. However, it works for the author
so sooner or later, (when i have enough time) I'll get it to work.

I would love to listen to (and browse!) the Radio Four Listen Again streams
but as far as I know this is not possible yet (and somehow I doubt if it
ever will be). As I live in the UK I am not so bothered about receiving the
live streams as I can use a Receiver (this notwithstanding, if you do get
Real Audio streams working on your Slimserver with XP I'd be glad if you let
me know how it was done!).

However, The World Service broadcasts using a WMA stream (as do the new
digital stations I believe?) so this should work with the WMA plugin.
However, there seems to be some sort of authentication on this stream and i
cannot even get it (via the mms address) to work in Winamp or Windows Media
Player (I am probably missing something obvious here though).

Hope this may help in some small way.

This will work for stations currrently listed on the shoutcast web page. I
would like to use shoutcast to stream from winamp to the squeezebox.

In windows right click on the tune in button on shoutcast and save as ( save
in your music folder ) it will then come up when you browse

Works for me

slimserver?

I would like to listen to radio stations such as the BBC on my stereo using
a squeezebox interfaced to a PC running XP. Following a recent discussion
here on this topic, I have installed the tara plugin in winamp, and that is
working fine. I have also installed the shoutcast plugin into winamp. I am
now stuck.

Could someone provide the details on how to configure the shoutcast plugin
to get it to stream its output into a playlist file to be read by the
squeezebox. An example of a playlist file would be great. Do I need to
install the shoutcast server and actually broadcast to the world? What do I
use for a url in the shoutcast output configuration?

Needless to say, this field is new to me, so detailed instructions would be
much appreciated. If there is a better way to do this with XP, I would also
appreciate hearing about it. Thanks in advance.
