Hi,

just downloaded and installed tonights 'nightly' build.

I cannot seem to get FLAC playback to work at all; within seconds of
selecting a FLAC file,
the server crashes ! Anyone see this problem ? (Windows XP Pro)

Also, I am struggling to get WAV playback to work over wireless. It
works just fine
on a wired link, but when operating on wireless the Squeezebox plays
about 1-2 seconds,
goes silent for 1 second, then another 1-2 seconds of music. Signal
strength around 40%.

Anyone got ideas ?

Thanks,

Paul.

There is a current issue with alternate formats, windows being hardest hit. Jan
13 is about the last safe one that I can think of off the top of my head.

I'm not really sure what could be up there. Even with only 40% you should get
ONE good stream. There was a firmware upgrade in the last few days that would
have some with that nightly build. Have you upgraded yet? press and hold
brightness and wait until it says the upload has begun.

When I got my SB out of the box, it did what you described -- played at
most a few seconds of the beginning of a track, dropped out, another second
or two, dropout, etc. This also happened over Ethernet! I almost returned
the unit thinking it was broken, until I read
http://slimdevices.com/su_faq.html#troubleshooting-intelpro and checked my
server machine -- sure enough, it had an Intel PRO NIC in it. I have a Dell
4550 and this is its stock NIC, so this probably affects a lot of Windows
people.

Follow the instructions at that link to turn of TCP segmentation
offloading to see if that helps. In my case, the SB went from unusable to
working great. My wireless reception is also about 50% at its current
location and that seems fine.

BTW, if it's at all feasible for the SlimServer installation process to
detect PRO cards, the Slim folks may want to think very hard about adding a
warning during installation, or programatically disabling segmentation
offloading if at all possible. This is a pretty darn obscure problem /
solution.

Mark
