ok, i get:

Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at Slim/Player/Source.pm line 723.
2004-01-16 22:13:57.5418 openSong: getting duration , size , and offset for rtsp://rmlivev8.bbc.net.uk/farm/*/ev7/live24/radio1/live/r1_dsat_g2.ra
2004-01-16 22:13:57.5424 openSong: not bothering opening file with zero size or duration

zero size? does it think this because it doesn't get data immediately?

btw. thanks for the $prog$ tip, i thought those were variables of some sort, yet couldn't find where they were set.

well, would seem to indicate that is the case. However, I would expect a stream
to not have a known size at the start. I seem to recall this being discussed
recently, but I'm the wrong person to have any details on that. You can at
least debug the rest of your stream work by commenting out that test.

Look in Source::openSong. You'll find the check for duration that you need to
block, and the $command checks.
