The Epia 10000, from what I remember, is a 1 GHz CPU. Not sure if it's the
x586 architecture still. The Epia 5000 that I have is 533 MHz, and it can
_maybe_ handle two streams. So The 1 GHz should be able to take more of a
load than that, given you tweak lame appropriately.

Plus, XP takes more overhead than the Linux server I'm running, so that
may be a factor.

Bear in mind if you decode straight to AIFF or WAV, you won't have the
lame encoding overhead which accounts for A LOT of the CPU time. So if
you're wiring things over ethernet you should be fine since you won't
need lame at all.
