I'm trying to get some ogg files to play. I've started ripping all my cd's
in ogg.

Lame is in place at /usr/bin/lame
oggdec is in place at /usr/bin/oggdec

When I start the server with the --d_source flag, it all looks like it's
playing ok, but I get

2004-01-14 11:29:30 192.168.0.10: Switching to mode play
2004-01-14 11:29:30 openSong

which seems to indicate to me that the length is set.

Did I encode this song missing a key flag that slimserver needs?

Sorry if this has been answered on the list already, I can't get to my mail
archive to search for it.

Try the latest nightly build. There have been some recent fixes to
Info.pm regarding Ogg file information.
