View Full Version : SB3 broke after 1hr of use

Bought a new SB3. Switched it on and it found my Slimserver. Went through the firmware upgrade routine (6.5.4 version of software newly installed) and everything seemed to work ok. Was able to play music, turn it off and on using the remote etc.

However after unplugging the power cord to move it to another location, it stopped working in that the display is now permanently blank. The device is powered up since it gets warm and I can see a glow coming from the optical connector.

Unplug-replugged a few times to no avail. Tried factory reset to no avail. Screen resolutely blank.

I guess I will have to RMA. Could this be 6.5.4 related? I guess unlikely since many others would be seeing the same thing.

When you power it up, does it show the logo and then go blank? If
so, try the brightness button on the remote.
If not, then it does look like you will have to contact
support (AT) slimdevices (DOT) com for an RMA

As a first try, press the brightness button on the remote. I've had my SB
switch to 'zero' brightness during a firmware upgrade before now.

Might not be that, but hopefully it's something simple.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I already tried the brightness control.

There is not a flicker from the screen when the power is connected (no Slim logo or anything).

I've RMA'd the box back to the dealer. Awaiting replacement.
