Running Vista, I downloaded the new Vista compatible Zonealarm Firewall.
After installing ZA Slimserver would not open, though tray icon was present and indicated Slimserver running, and my Squeezebox lost connection to Slimserver, but not my wireless network.
No amount of fiddling with Zonealarm would fix this, I had to uninstall ZA, but also uninstall Slimserver and reinstall it to get things back in working order. Tried this a couple of times with same result.
Anyone else who has had similar experience?
Anyway, beware of installing ZA together with Slimserver on Vista!

Did you allow slimserver.exe to run as server in the zone alarm configuration?
If you don't do that slimserver cannot be accessed from the network, hence no connection to/from the squeezebox and to the web interface.

Not really answering your question but...

SlimServer works fine through ZoneAlarm on both XP Home and XP Pro, so it's certainly not a fault with ZoneAlarm!

I think crashes is the wrong term - prevent startup is more likely but 3 other Vista users have noticed it.

If you've gotten SB to run with ZoneAlarm, please tell me how you did it. I have ZoneAlarm on my PC running XP Pro and also have the Z100G router. I'm getting an IP address from the router but cannot connect to SlimServer. I HAVE opened ports 3483 & 9000 in both TCP and UDP in ZoneAlarm and have added those ports in the Z100G for both incoming and outgoing connections.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve, I assume your SB and PC are on the same internal network.
If that's the case you do not need to open ports on the router.
In the ZoneAlarm you should add the ip range of your internal network (probably 192.168.1.1 -> 192.168.1.255) as a trusted zone.
