I am running SlimServer 6.5.3 on a Mac mini. Yes, it's not the fastest computer in the world but I have 1GB of RAM, etc etc. SlimServer does a fine enough job, but often when I need to get some work done, It's slow as molasses. At such times I see the CPU gauge is maxed and when I look in Activity Monitor, it shows "perl" taking up 85% of the CPU. SlimServer must be "indexing" or scanning or something. I understand that there are preference settings where I can choose what priority I want the process to run, but those don't seem to help.

What I'd like is a preference setting where I could tell SlimServer to ONLY index between 3am and 6am or something like that. I don't change my iTunes library that often, daily scan would be enough.

one option:
set the itunes rescan interval (server settings->itunes) to 0 to
disable rescanning on any changes
then use the rescan plugin (server settings->plugins) to set a scan
for 3am every night.
