View Full Version : FreeBSD: Mysql issue when upgrading to 6.5.3

2007-08-12, 14:59

I just updated slimserver from 6.5.1 to 6.5.3 using portupgrade. No problems whith the upgadeprocess at all, but after that, slimserver server died.

Time to dig into Logfile:

2007-08-12 23:21:12.6473 ERROR: MySQLHelper: createSystemTables() Couldn't connect to database: [Can't connect to local MySQL server
through socket '/var/db/slimserver/cache/slimserver-mysql.sock' (2)]

Strange: Mysql on port 9092 was running, so that left me baffled for a second.

But slimserver stop (from rc.d) didn't stop the slim-mysqld, so I had to kill it myself, and after that "/usr/local/etc/rc.d/slimserver start" did bring up a new mysql that the slimserver could connect to.

I suspect the change of SLIMUSER/GRP is to blame (fits with the errormessage that I suspect is straight from DBI)

So perhaps the FreeBSD maintainer should look at the portupgrade, and make sure the mysqld-6.5.1 is stopped while the credentials fits.

Of course doing a "windows" (reboot) would solve the problem, but thats just not good unix-carma :)

Thanks for maintaining the port, I hope you can use my feedback.
