Hi,
"sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list"
add "deb http://debian.slimdevices.com stable main" to end of list
save and exit
"sudo apt-get update"
"sudo apt-get install slimserver"

or you can download and install the deb package.

Have a read of this, it should help.

Well I found my problem, made a typo on a directory. I did it over and everything ran as it should with no error messages. The final message is that it is starting slim server. The problem is that when I go to the applications button to run slimserver, it does not show up among the available apps. But when I go to the synaptic package manager, it shows up as being installed. I am sure that I have missed something easy, I just don't know what it is....

It isn't an application as such, but a service, all admin is done via browser interface.

Well after getting some sleep and doing a fresh install, everything worked as advertised. Many thanks for your help on this Doug...
