Does anyone know why the UK Squeezebox price on Amazon went up by 15 pounds today?

With the pound so strong against the dollar you would have thought prices would have fallen, along with CD prices etc etc......or am I being naive?

Well you can still get it at Datakits for under 190 (and IIRC they still have non-Logitech branded ones!).

But more insidious is that you can't buy from SlimDevices anymore if you live in Europe - you have to use Logitech, and so have to get it at 219 plus shipping, instead of the sterling equivalent price of under 175, even including VAT.

And say nothing of the Transporter price - you could get a weekend break in New York, buy a Transporter, pay the UK VAT on your return and still save money!

Globalisation? Not here!!

"Don't Panic Mr Mannering!"

Price glitch at Amazon, it will back down to 195inc before the end of the day.

No price move as of yet but good to know it was a supply side slip up.

I bought one from datakits last week on Sunday and it arrived on Tuesday so well happy and it only cost 185 with the postage.

Wish I'd got one of the non-Logitech branded ones... Think the Slimdevices logo looks smarter...

You can still order them from slimdevices - just not to Europe anymore :(
Better just grin and bear it, it is still the same inside.

Maybe just find a friend in the US who could send it as a gift ;o)

Well pricewise on gadgets we often don't fare a lot better than the UK here in Australia, but for once we do. I just got our squeezebox locally for $A 310 which is about 137 pounds.

Btw how awesome is this thing! :D

Musketeer, I'm currently on secondment from the UK to Melbourne, this looks like a good deal so where did you get it from, at that price?
Thanks

I got it online at Prime Digital Systems - I later discovered that the place is actually only minutes away from where I live in Sydney.

I just looked it up to find this link and unfortunately it is now listed as "out of stock". I know it was listed as in stock just 2 days ago. Still, I expect they can get stock.

I've only had it for a day, but this thing is exceeding my expectations as a music player. The extra web features (internet radio, podcasts, weather, rss etc) are also pretty cool.

I use it with a NAS device so no computers need to be left on.
