View Full Version : Isle of Wight radio problems

Hi, I'm using a Squeezebox to listen to Isle of Wight radio via the internet (we live in the midlands in the UK and the island is one of our holiday haunts). The website in question offers various alternative methods: Real Player, Winamp, Quicktime, WMP etc. I can only get the Real Player version to work (and currently that's noisy, but I think that's the radio station's fault).

I understand the Winamp version will give the best reproduction (the Real Player one sounds mono, rather than stereo, to me and not stunningly clear).

I'd really like to get the Winamp version working, can anyone help? I'm relatively new to all this stuff so please be gentle!

The Isle of Wight radio.s website is:

Many thanks in anticipation,

I'd be happy to help you, but... :(

Our streaming services are only available to listeners in the United Kingdom

It looks like the format of the Winamp higher bitrate stream is AAC plus which is not supported natively by Squeezebox.

To support AACplus on slimserver you will need to add in support as detailed in this page. Look about halfway down.

If you have a Windows system and you have not made any special changes, then support for AACplus will just consist of downloading 4 files (mplayer.exe and the 3 custom files from the wiki page) and then restarting Slimserver.

It may look at bit intmidating, but it's easy enough. If you have any questions, someone on here will be happy to help out.
