I have my entire CD collection saved in MP3 (Why oh why did I bother???). I now have a transporter, and want to create a seperate library in lossless format, how do I best acheive this? I probably need to buy an external hard drive to put it all onto ... Can someone give me a tutorial on how to do all this? Cheers Andrew.

1) Install an nice big disk.
2) get it working.
3) grab your stack of CDs.
4) repeat until done:
5) put CD in computer
6) run extraction tool
7) compress to FLAC (*can be done automagically with #6)
8) remove CD, and get next one

After than, treat the FLAC library as the One Truth, and use a tool like
flac2mp3 to make MP3s as needed.

I recommend ripping your CDs to FLAC with EAC.

These links should get you started:

MP3Tag is great program for editing tags:

These are all great links. I'd also check out the AutoFLAC frontend to
EAC: http://legroom.net/software/autoflac

AutoFLAC is nice because it handles all of the interaction with EAC,
making ripping CDs a one-click operation.
