Firstly I will say "Hi" as I am new here and I'm in the realms looking
to buy the new SqueezeBox (WiFi) for home use. I have a question which I
can't find the answer for anywhere on the site so I thought I would post
here. The scenario is:

I have a pair of turntables in my spare room which are connected to a
mixer and in turn the mixer is connected directly to a the line in on my
PC (WinXP Pro). This is the same PC I am looking to run slim on.

Is there any possible way I can re-route the Line In signal from my
soundcard to the SqueezeBox device(s)?

This would be fantastic as music being played from the turntables could
be re-routed to the SqueezeBox device(s) so the music is played
throughout my house.

Any thoughts on this would be great?

Thanks

Oliver,

I had similiar questions not long ago regarding "broadcasting" a stream from
my entertainment system - such as a fav radio station, satelite audio feed,
or TV show, etc. The answer I received here was to try Nicecast. It
allows you to create encode your own streams from a live source and
broadcast via http. Unfortunately, the server must be a Mac.

I have a query pending, (posted1/12/20049:24AM) about a WXP alternative.

The shoutcast server ( http://www.shoutcast.com ) would do this for you. It
runs on Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP, Mac OS X, FreeBSD, Linux, and Solaris,
is free, and will produce an 'Internet Radio' style mp3 stream from your
soundcard. Whilst the Shoutcast server was designed for Winamp and similar
software players to connect to, the (fantastic) Slimp3 and (even more
fantastic :-) Squeezebox can play Shoutcast mp3 streams.

Hope this helps
