View Full Version : Any reason slimserver doesn't automagically add albumart when browsing new folders?

I know slimserver automatically records a DB entry for any new albums it encounters when one browses music folders - any reason why it doesn't do the next logical thing, being adding the album art if it is there?

Thanks Michael, it's a damned annoying known issue and seemingly one that isn't going to be addressed. Doing a full rescan is a royal PITA (scanning for updates seems to be a potluck process, sometimes it picks up all new artwork, sometimes it doesn't).

me too.

i'm going to post a list of my votes that haven't yet been resolved.

i would be curious to see other peoples lists too.

i don't know what SD is doing behind the scenes, but i'd love to know when 7 is coming out, and i'd also be willing to see development of 6.x and these issues / votes halted if it got 7.0 out any faster.

then, once it was out, i'd like to see them stop worrying about the next step, and simply resolve all these issues one way or another as they pertain to 7.0 ie. address every bug report and get it closed.

is that unrealistic?

Oh no, it looks like another recently reported bug (5159, 5157). Those one are problems with mtime, not embeddable artwork. But it seems to be related to the same difficulty to update thumbnails "on the fly".

This problem wasn't much of a problem in the beginning but it's more and more painful to have to do a full rescan and lost stats every weeks.

I don't see what's the problem with it but I trust the team, if it's not easily fixable it shouldn't be... but what's the problem? Indeed it's not really a minor bug.

you could add a comment to those two that it seems related to 4631. i think that kind of correlation within bug reports helps.
