View Full Version : SlimServer v6.5.2 Hangs on Install

Finally decided to "upgrade" slimserver after over 1.5 years of trouble-free operation with my SB3.

Windows XP with no other issues at all. SlimServer v6.5.2 hangs my system on final install waiting screen. Requires cold reboot. When brought back up, the browser can't find slimserver. First time I just installed on top of the old one. Since that resulted in hanging, I uninstalled slimserver and started the install again. Same problem, hangs on final install screen.

Is there an older version that I can try to install? I never had any issues at all until 6.5.2.

TIA

I had a similar sounding issue. It was my McAfee Firewall. You have to COMPLETELY UNINSTALL the firewall. Then my 6.5.2 installation started working.

Thanks for the suggestion but I tried that. The only firewall I have is the default Windows firewall. I turned that off and 6.5.2 still hangs on install.

I found an old 6.2.2 exe and installed that and it seems to be working again.

Does anyone have a version between 6.2.2 and 6.5.2? Or should I just not worry about the upgrade and sit tight with a working 6.2.2?

TIA

Just "disabling" or "turning off" my firewall was not enough. I had to actually uninstall it. The guy at the tech support phone line told me this. I uninstalled McAfee Firewall, and he was right. He siad there are changes in 6.5.x that cause more issues with firelwalls than with the older 6.2.x
