hi guys,

ordering my first squeezebox(es) tomorrow, just been checking pricing etc and am confused. how come amazon have the squeezebox with a slimdevices logo at 195, ripcaster have it for 199 while logitech have it for 219? all seems very odd.

also if I order one now from amazon/ripcaster will it come with a slimdevices or logitech logo? i'm not really fussed which I get as long as I don't order two and have one with a logitech logo and one with a slimdevices logo!

any help/thoughts much appreciated
cheers

Stu,
The prices always seem to vary a little. The 219 from Logitech is a little steep though.
You could also try Broadbandstuff or Multitask Computing - may get a deal for two - worth a try.
All uk stock should now be Logitech branded as there's been a 6 week delay for the new stuff to arrive. A call to confirm branding would put your fears to rest.
Norm.

I can recommend the service from Ecodigital (http://www.ecodigital.co.uk/estore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cpath=8&products_id=52).

(I have no connection to Ecodigital)

219 might be the list price? which is common for the manufacturer to list. Amazon etc. will be selling it at cost+markup.

As far as the branding is concerned, you will probably get a Logitec unit as Amazon were OOS for a long time so i doubt they have any of the old runs left. They probably won't update the picture any time soon though.

FYI I just received my two Squeezeboxes from Ebuyer. 190 each incl free postage.

They had the new logitech branding, which didnt show up on their website. Would have preferred the old slim devices logo though...

Odder still..

US price on Logitech/Slim Devices site $299.99
Euro price on Logitech site 299 euros = $400
UK price on Logitech site 219 pounds = $435

That's not so bad. Often stuff that comes over here from the States ends up
being charged the same price in UK pounds as it is in dollars...

The Logitech prices you are listing are MSRP and are inc. VAT. We don't generally move prices with currency fluctuations, so the weak US dollar versus strong EU$ & British Pound has a major impact as well.

Resellers set their own selling price, which is why you've seen it for less than our suggested retail price.

Everything except perhaps Dyson vacuums and Miele laundry machines are more expensive in the UK and Europe.

My Transporter (bought in the UK) was pretty much the same price as a US one at the exchange rate of the day.
