The interesting thing is that Roku claims to support
WMA

"...All major audio formats are supported — MP3, WMA,
AAC, AIFF and WAV"

.....so why doesn't the squeezebox?

perhaps they have a hardware decoder and have patched slimserver to send it
over. Perhaps their maketing department is just thinking too far ahead :)

Interestingly, their support mail-list has discussions wanting protected AAC
files to work, digital outputs, built in WiFi. holy déja vu, Batman.

I'm tempted to just say "chipset", but with the server software limited
to DRM-friendly platforms, maybe I shouldn't be so glib. If it is the
chipset, then they either cut a better deal with Microsoft or they're
counting on making it up in volume (or perhaps they have an existing
license from their other products). But if it's in the server, then...
hmmm...

BTW, anyone else notice the Roku has a slot for a Compact Flash wireless
card?
