View Full Version : 24bit Apple Lossless problem in SlimServer Version: 6.5.2

Could use some help here - most of my music is Apple Lossless - including a little music that I've transferred from Vinyl.

The Vinyl music is encoded at 24bit 44.1 and 48 kHz.

I've recently upgraded to (6.5.2 - 12047 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252) and my 24 bit files don't work.

Looking on the server alac.exe is crashing on these files, with a little research I think alac.exe doesn't support 24 bit files.

I think previous versions of SlimServer used mov123 (and quicktime). I've tried to change convert.conf to use mov123, but I can't get this to work for any of the apple lossless files.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong - but can someone tell me if it's still possible to play 24bit Apple lossless files - and if so what config changes I should make.

After some messing about with cobvert.conf I've managed to switch back to using mov123 which works fine.

Would suggest that on windows platforms this should be the default (rather than alac).
