I can barely spell "perl", so I have no hope of creating a plug in. However, I think it would be very cool to have a slimp3 plug-in that could go and get Iridium flares times (See for example http://www.heavens-above.com/main.asp?Lat=33.24876&Lng=-111.85391&Loc=Chez+Bossler&TZ=Arizona)

It would be extra cool to show a count down to the next flare (tied in with the alarm clock?) along with the Az El and magnitude.

Just thought I'd throw that out there, in case someone is listening.

Thanks,
Dan

If the site you give above has any sort of RSS feed available, you can use the
existing RSS plugin found here:
http://www.rant-central.com/slimstuff/

If there isn't an RSS feed, maybe you can increase your odds of getting your
wish by trying to get them keen on the idea :)

No sign of RSS anywhere that I can see, unfortunately. The page in
question is dynamically built, and I didn't see any sign of an
alternative interface. One could scrape the HTML for the info, but as
another list denizen said recently, Ew.

exactly. better to pester the site to release a clean interface, than to try to
create a custom plugin for slimserver that needs to be rewritten every time the
web admin decides the flares can be presented better with a few tweaks to a
table tag.
