View Full Version : Radiotime and Realaudio

I have alienbbc installed and working (bbc and other rtsp streams work fine) but I can't play radiotime stations that stream in realaudio format. Is this more to do with radiotime just not allowing it because of realaudio licensing? Is there a workaround for this? I tried sniffing(url snooper) but it uses an embedded flash player and the url must be in the swf cause it doesn't show any media related urls.
The particular station is alice 97.3 in the San Francisco Bay Area(94103). I could personally care less about the station but it would sure help with WAF.

For Alice try

Not sure what Alice has to do with BBC and RadioTime as it doesn't seem to use RealAudio.

Thanks for the info. I thought it was real audio because the message I get on the SB is "can't play real/fm/am see www.radiotime.com/sb"
When I went to the radiotime site it mentioned it could stream mp3 and wma to the SB but not rtsp so I thought the real/fm/am line was talking about real audio.

So..how did you go about finding the url to the stream and should the SB be able to stream rtsp streams from radiotime if alien bbc is installed?

Most of AlienBBC is to do with parsing BBC web site to get urls for programs and streams. This is not relevant to RadioTime.

AlienBBC also sets up handlers for RTSP (realaudio) URLS and rm, rpm and ram extensions. If radiotime delivers an URL in the correct format - slimserver will run it.

I think RadioTime may mean FM/AM through a radio card in the PC when it refers to "real fm/am".

Finally - The "Listen" URL when tuning into Alice is a "streamtheworld" URL which is specially set up to make users use a web browser to view the ads.

To get the URL see the last post in the following.

Looks like I was barking up the wrong tree.

Thanks for the help.

The SlimServer RadioTime plugin detects if you have Alien installed and tells RadioTime to allow RealAudio streams to be listed. Maybe this isn't working right?

Is there any way to listen to RAM streams without having PC on? If not, does anyone know if Slimdevices plan to make RAM streams supported by the device itself? Thanks.
