Where can I find a definitive document that says what formats are supported natively and through transcoding on SlimServer and the Slim clients?
Are the implementations of SlimServer (same release level) different? Are the current firmwares for SB3 and Transporter different?
This should be an easily accessed piece of information, but I cannot find it anywhere. The reviewer PDF says WMA is supported natively, but that does not seem to include WMA Lossless - yes/no?

Did you look at the wiki ? See the Decoder line of the Hardware Comparison for SB2 and above.

I've included the section on Transcoding as well (although admittedly it's a bit light on details).

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?HardwareComparison

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?Transcoding

A summary of the position can also be found in the Beginners' Guide to File Formats:

No, I had not looked on the Wiki, just documentation and Forum.....
Thanks for the pointer.

SlimServer supports all players, but the players' capabilities are different and SlimServer will account for that.

Not in terms of supported formats except for 24/96, which is downsampled to 24/48 for the SB3 but left at 24/96 for the Transporter.

Of course there are functions in firmware which are Transporter-only like digital inputs, front panel buttons, knob, RS232, visualizer screen, etc. but in terms of sound playback formats 24/96 is the only difference.
