View Full Version : Getting started developing under Windows

So I spent a couple of hours last night trying to understand why my code wasn't working, only to finally decide that it was probably compiled code and eventually find a message here in the forum that confirmed it.

OK, great, now I have my change running.

But now:

- Is there a way to run my changed version at system startup? I can come up with a couple, but is there a standard way?

- Is there a way to control it with slimtray?

- What's the approved way to shut it down? ^C works but makes me nervous.

- If for some reason I get silly enough to buy the PDK, is there a build script or makefile somewhere?

Would anybody mind if I added a "getting started developing under Windows" page to the Wiki?

not currently.

firedaemon should close it down, ^C isn't so bad as the code is
designed to close the important stuff properly.

if you check out a full copy from svn, makerelease.pl should do it if
you get the PDK built right. Not many try to build the windows exe due
to the costs.

go for it. the wiki is there for exactly that purpose.
