Hi all

After many years of having to unplug my wavefinder daily, I would like to find a better way of streaming radio around my squeezeboxes. I bought an usb dab radio (trinloc) but I am not really having a lot of luck with that either. I am using windows 2000 serve edition. Is there a way of controlling a dvb card the same way I control the wavefinder (dabbar)

Thanks

Gary

I think there is a linux plug-in that enables you to play dvb radio via your Squeezebox, but it does not work under windows.

Note that DVB uses old MP2 compression, so despite its high bitrate (256kbps IIRC), sound is not truly marvellous! FM is much better :)

Might we have some confusion here between "radio broadcast via DVB" and "DAB radio"?

Last week I spent the best part of two hours looking for a USB DAB radio thingybob with Linux support, and failed completely to find anything that wasn't "Windows only".

Well I mean DVB not DAB, which is (I think!) what was asked for. The plug-in is here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=155316&package_id=173368

Sadly for me, it's Linux only.

It would be a nice feature if SD sorted it to play audio from DAB and/or DVB cards.

I spent a long time looking for a DVB Wavefinder alternative that would run alongside Slimserver and ended up moving to a Linux (Ubuntu) based server - no regrets so far. My solution uses Icecast and a small package called DVBShout which will serve a complete multiplex as individual streams. Works well so long as all the stations you listen to are on the same DVB-T or DVB-S multiplex.

See http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29703 for more details.
