View Full Version : Standard Skin broken?!

Something strange happened to me just now.. doesn't really speak for the stability of the server.

I startet playing an Internet Radio station (via entering an URL through the web interface). Then I saved it as a favorite on the squeezebox. Since it didnt set the title correctly, but instead used the ugly url (sometimes it does use the "nice" title as the title, sometimes the (ugly) url, but thats another issue which should really be fixed - why cant favorites be renamed through the web interface? editing a file for this is ugly), I deleted the favorite again through the web interface.

And what happened? All of a sudden the standard skin was broken. I only get "code" instead of an HTML-page, e.g.

body, table, input, select, textarea, select, p, li {
color: #333;
font-size: 10px;
font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
}

body {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}

/* Hack for IE to prevent horizontal scrollbars with frames */
* html {
overflow-y: scroll;
}

.exlisting, p, ol, ul, dl, dd, td, .stdclick, .stdedit, .exboldlisting, th, h5 {
color: #666;
}

.faq p, h5 {
font-size: 11px;
}

.viewSelect
{
float: right;
padding-right: 8px;
padding-top: 6px;
}

etc.

Multiple Reloads didnt help - the skin is broken. Now how in the world can this happen? For me thats a major bug.

But what interests me even more: How can I fix this again without reinstalling the whole thing ans losing all my settings??
I dont want to have to set everything again, because it takes forever.

Oh.. fortunately the other skins still work, but would still like the standard skin back.

Thanks for anybody who can help!

Clean your browser's cache (not only reload the page). Try another
browser. If this still doesn't help, shut down SlimServer and clean it's
cache folder as well.

If this still doesn't help, you might give us some information about your
system: server version, operating system, browser etc.

BTW: backups are a good thing - they will prevent having to reconfigure
everything.

The problem is probably due to a cache either in Slimserver or browser. Since you didn't give any OS, SS version or browser version - no more specific help can be given.

For 6.5 you can use MyPicks plugin to save internet radio stations with nice titles and edit them from the web. I think this functionality will be included in 7.0 for handling favorites.

Ok thanks.. I'll try the plugin.

But that won't bring back the skin I guess :-)

Anyways, I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.3 which has worked
perfectly before.. I forced several reloads, which didnt
help.

For the server, I'm using 6.5.1 on Windows XP Professional.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I restarted the server several times also - didnt help either.

I hope you read the part about the caches mentioned twice as well?...

Ok I take everything back :-)

Manually deleting the firefox cache fixed the problem.
Reloading obviously didnt work.

Well, thanks anyways.. I'll really try the plugin you mentioned now though.

for slimserver cache clearing go to slimserver/server/cache/filecache and delete
for browser cache clearing go to tools-options-privacy and private data-settings - tick cache, ok - then ctrl-shift-delete will clear cache in firefox (there is almost always an easier way that i do not know, but this works !)
fyi - the main browser is definitely not broken in 6.5.2 from the weekend nightly

How about voting for this bug? If you sign up for a Bugzilla account, you can do so. I first reported this bug during the 6.5 beta. First, the fix was pushed back to 6.5.1. Then it was pushed back to 7.0. This doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence. I'm still using 6.3.1 because this bug happens every time I try to tune into an internet radio station with 6.5.x. Rolling back to 6.3.1 will fix it.

See the sticky thread on bug reporting at the top of the forum.
