I've resurrected my Covert Art and library utility, its working for me,
and I'd like to get some user feedback on it.

The utility, written in Java, is available on my site, at

http://www.pfarrell.com/music/slimserver/slimsoftware.html

In my testing, it works fine for pop and jazz, the same old problems
with classical remain.

It looks at the tags in your files and connects to Amazon to pull down
cover art images, putting them into your music library's disc structure.

Feedback welcome.

Source code is available if you are interested.

cool, I've been using a couple of utilities. One is some python code (ported to java afaik) that supports iTunes Music Store images.

Pat, how much extra drive space will I need to store the cover art files? Thanks.

That depends on the art. Let me check a few of mine CDs
To take a random example, The Beatles Revolver has three possible
files, you only need one, but you could keep all three
11515 albumartsmall.jpg
22761 cover.jpg
3147 thumb.jpg

This totals less than 40KB, which is trivial considering there are 206M
of flac music files. It increases the disk usage by less than 0.5 %

I would call that no difference, since the compression of songs varies
by much more than that. Or call it a half percent.

Together with the fishbone skin (thanks kdf) I think it makes the UI a
lot better
