    Player being pinged?

My apologies I was thinking of some other stuff he should block, namely WINS
garbage in addition to ICMP non-initiated messages.

Ummm, icmp is not in the normal port spaces of tcp or udp... Yes you should
block it but there will be special syntax to do so. If you can, try just
blocking incoming echo request packets, that way things like port
    unreachables
from other places you try to talk to can still get to you.

    |Last night and again tonight I noticed that my SLIMP3's display is
    |reporting that it's being pinged every minute or so. Some of the IPs
    |are the same, some are close to each other, all seem to be coming from

    |
    |Should I be concerned? What can I do to trace the source(s) of these
    |pings?
    |
    |Thanks.

I just set my firewall to drop all unsolicited incoming packets except for
port 22 (ssh) and port 143 (IMAP, so my cell phone can check its account),
    which get forwarded.
