Hi,

I've had AlienBBC installed for a couple of days, and all was working great. But now I cannot get any BBC radio at all! Looking at the logfile I see

Can anyone suggest anything for me to try?

AlienBBC 1.06, Slim 6.5.1

Many thanks,

Jim

ok, having re-read all the "BBC and 404" postings here, I ahve restarted slim and now get a "RTSP convert error" message. Again searching these boards it loks like I sould have all the RTSP entries unchecked inside Server Settings / File Types. But I don't seem to have any RTSP entries! I have a custom-types.conf file in the Plugins/Alien folder, and permissions look fine.

Any ideas?

In Plugins/Alien directory you should have custom-convert.conf and a custom-types.conf files.

If there are no RTSP entries Server Setting/Filetypes then AlienBBC plugin is not starting up correctly.
Was this a working installation that stopped or a new installation ?
What OS are you using ?

I'm on Ubuntu. It seems like I've followed an incorrect URL somewhere (I've just reponded to this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32298) so It appears I have a 6.2 installation of Alien on a 6.5.1 installation of Slim.

I'll scrub Alien and start again.

Just a thought though. It worked fine for exactly one day. Is there an automated process anywhere that's replaced my fully-working install with a duff one? An overnight "check for updates" for example?

Yes, that was the problem. Wrong version of Alien. There's an incorrect link on the AlienBBC website. If you visit here:

http://www.x2systems.com/AlienBBC/

in the first section of the page there's the following text:

AlienBBC Installation Instructions
Linux
Windows
MacOS/X

If you click the Linux link you go here:

http://www.x2systems.com/AlienBBC/installation.html#linux

which says:

Download the linux archive http://www.x2systems.com/alienbbc/alienbbc-linux-v1.06_6.2-3.tar.gz.

So that's how I ended up with it. Admittedly the first page gives separate downloads for both versions, but I made the silly mistake of following the "installation instructions" link :-)
