Hello
I am getting frustrated here! I am strugling for few days and trying to add radio station to play on my squeezebox. I just got it, riped all my cd's, and love it! Also playing preprogrammed radio stations is not a problem but have no idea on how to add new one. And yes I read all the forum wiki, help articles tried diffrent versions, plugginns and NOTHING!
This is the web side: http://www.eska.pl/
It is one from Warsaw(Warszawa) Radio ESKA
when you click the link - http://serwer.eska.com.pl/eskawarszawa.m3u
inside there is URL:http://eskawarszawa.stacja.fm:27828
I have installed MyPicks, tried opml file, tried to add to favorites, playlist.... - nothing worked. Please help before... :)
thank you
in Shoutcast if I do search for ESKA - there is ESKA from Lodz - another polish city but not Warsaw, but also the have .pls file so maybe that is the diffence.

That station is in AAC+ (AACplus) format which is not a format supported natively by Squeezebox.

To support AACplus on slimserver you will need to add in support as detailed in this page.
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?AACplus

If you have a Windows system and you have not made any special changes, then support for AACplus will just consist of downloading 4 files (mplayer.exe and the 3 custom file from the wiki page) and then restarting Slimserver.

I will try this today, thanks. My wife just got back from Warsaw and loves this station. I have to set it up - it will help me to justify $$ spend on it, cables .... :)

I looked at wiki steps so do I follow them or as you wrote just download these 4 files and restart the server? Where do I put them?
What after? how do I add this station to apear on squeezebox and play it?
Sorry for specific questions but I am new at this
thanks

Since you did not say what system you had the following ONLY applies to a Windows with Slimserver 6.5.x systems.

Copy the 3 attached "custom" files from the wiki
page into the server directory of slimserver - if using default installation then the directory
C:\Program Files\SlimServer\server

Get a copy of mplayer.exe either from the www.mplayerhq.hu site
or
http://homepage.eircom.net/~altondsl/slim/mplayerrc1exe.ZIP
You will have to unzip the one I have built. In either case put the mplayer.exe in the slimserver Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread directory or if you used standrad installation then
c:\Program Files\SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread

After restarting slimserver, then you cna test yoru URL by pasting it into the "Tune in" box.

If it works then enter into MyPicks or use Right arrow when playing to add to favorites but the name may be sensible.

I think this is it! I will give up now. I have spend so much time on it and can not do it! I have addet these 3 files I have modify them as per wiki, put mplayerrc1.exe (this is what I got from downloading from links you have provided)in C:\Program Files\SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread, restarted server and stil can not tune in or play this station. I work as java programmer so I am not totaly blind when it cames to computers but this is just frustrating.
If someone had success in adding this station can you please provide me with step by step directions?
Thanks
Pablo

Shouldn't the transcoding feature support AAC Plus?

There are detailed step by step instructions on the wiki page - they have been updated by users where they felt they needed clarification. You can add your improvements afterwards.

In your case, I forgot the one of the files on the wiki pages was set up for Linux and not Windows. Download, unzip and
use the attached custom-convert.conf to replace the one from the wiki page.

If "Tune-in" still does not work then here is a check list as there other things such as firewall (since this station uses an unusual port 27828) and virus checkers that can stop operations even though the files are correctly installed.

1. There should be 3 AACPlus files types entries in Server Setting/Filetypes and two of the associated boxes should be checked.
2. Open a Command prompt and cd to the Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread directory and run the following command. You should hear your station if your PC has a sound card.

mplayer http://eskawarszawa.stacja.fm:27828

3. If 1 & 2 are OK - then get a debug log with d_source enabled of a "Tune-in" select for yoru station.
The debug messages should indicate where the remaining problem lies. Most likely with security s/w. Make sure mplayer.exe and socketwrapper.exe are known to be be "trusted" secuirty . What Security software (e.g. Firewall, Antiviurs, IM security, anti-spyware) have you installed ? Some apps such as ZoneAlarm require replacing the sockwrapper whereas NOD32 needs special entries.

hi
I have 3 entries in File Types:
File Format Stream Format Decoder
AACplus FLAC mplayer/flac
AACplus MP3 mplayer/lame
AACplus WAV mplayer
All 3 checkboxes are unchecked. Which 2 do I check? I have tried to do it but after I press Change button to save they getting unchecked automaticly. I have copy your file to C:\Program Files\SlimServer\server

If all 3 are unchecked then slimserver cannot find or access mplayer.exe so slimserver refuses to enable the check boxes.

Double check that there is an mplayer.exe in the Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread directory. Also make sure it works by opening a cmd window to the directory and make sure it runs.

After I unzip your link or link from wiki there was mplayerrc1.exe not mplayer.exe.
How do I get mplayer.exe?

That's good. I think I may create a zip file of Windows specific files to simplify the install a bit.

I forgot about the renaming mplayer - that was a new version of mplayer and I made the names different to tell version apart.

2. Open a Command prompt and cd to the Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread directory and run the following command. You should hear your station if your PC has a sound card.

bpa, when running mplayer from the command prompt, the following url works and plays the AACplus file format:
mplayer -playlist http://www.sky.fm/aacplus/classical.pls

However, mplayer seems to balk on the woxy.com AACplus feed. For example, the following does takes over a minute to begin playing:
mplayer -playlist http://woxy.lala.com/stream/aac32.pls

Also, woxy.com's mp3 option works fine with no hesitation:
mplayer -playlist http://woxy.lala.com/stream/mpg64.pls

Do you have any idea what is causing the hesitation for the AACplus format on woxy.com?

I'm running on AMD Athlon 2600+, Windows XP Home Edition.

mplayer is very suspicious of streams and seems to prefer to autodetect the stream type from the content and not the headers. Most of the time it does a very good job.

If you use this command you will see it is trying to decode the stream as video and OGG amongst other things - Not sure why but mplayer is eventuallky convinced there is a companion video stream and so it waits for it to start.

mplayer -v -v -playlist http://woxy.lala.com/stream/aac32.pls

The following tells mplayer to use decoders and protocol specific to an AACplus over ICY links and not to auto detect - and so it starts quickly

mplayer -ac faad -demuxer aac -playlist http://woxy.lala.com/stream/aac32.pls

The above options are used by my conf file entries to force the issue for Slimserver as Slimserver examines the ICY-CONTENT header to determine how a stream should be handled.
