As I was typing this I might have answered my question, but thought I'd ask anyway to make sure.

Is the Slimserver install independent of the OS architecture (32 bit vs 64bit) because slims erver is entirely written on Perl?

Assuming you have the right version (32/64bit) of Perl installed, I should be ok, right?

I can't answer your other questions but FWIW, I am running Slimserver on Windows XP Professional x64 bit without issue.

I just migrated to a new server, which meant switching from a 32-bit system running SuSE 9.1 to an AMD 64-bit system using openSuSE 10.2.

I had some small installation issues, but once I overcame those it seems to run fine. I'm now at 15 days uptime and counting.
