View Full Version : 6.5.1 causing some troubles on OSX

No end to the whinging tonight sorry!

I've upgraded to 6.5.x a couple times now, and retreated back to 6.3.1 for the same unresolved issue.

Here it is. In Search Music, after returning a result, if you click the artist name, for example, "The Beatles", the browser hangs and doesn't display the result at all. In 6.5.0 this behavior actually crashed Slimserver and required a [Slimserver] restart. In 6.5.1 Slimserver doesn't crash but nor does it return the intended result. CPU utilization during the behavior is nil.

[Worth mentioning: The Safari browser v1.3.2 on OSX 10.3.9 actually crashes if I hit the "Search Results" button in both 6.3.1 and 6.5.1. Since the brilliant Slimserver developers have included a type-ahead feature for Search Music, the button is just a placebo anyway so I avoid the temptation to push the button.]

Upon backleveling to 6.3.1, the artist results are speedy and without issue. Is this a known issue and if so, is there a solution? I've searched the threads and haven't seen tell of this issue, so I apologize if I missed a common thread.

Repeatable on two Slimservers:
G4 PowerPC tower, OSX 10.3.9
iMac Intel Core2Duo, OSX 10.4.8

I can partially confirm this. Clicking an artist name does not
return a result. You can, however, click other items (e.g., "Home")
and get the expected results, so I would not describe the browser as
"hung." (It works properly if you click a song title or album.)

I'm running Slimserver 6.5.1 on a 700 MHz G3 iMac under OS X 10.3.9.
The browser is Camino 1.0.3 running on a Quicksilver dual 800 G4 with
OS X 10.4.8.

Does one know how we can Bugzilla this? This is a major use case for me. 6.5.1 has some good features, but not going to upgrade if a favorite feature is borked.

Resolved in the latest 6.5.2 nightly builds.
