View Full Version : SS - IE7 browser times out

this proably applies to all browsers, but as talked about here:

there is definitely a problem with how SS starts, re: when it opens a browser.

to me, the browser should NOT open until SS would actually be ready for it. so simply change the trigger to some final action of SS loading.

its just inelegent, and i find it is a bug, b/c oftentimes i will try to refresh prior to it's being ready for me too, and if i do that, then forget it, i could wait forever and that window or tab won't load SS. i have to open a new window or tab and manually nav to it.

unless anyone knows of a bug filed already, or a reason why not to, i will probably file a bug on this later. -mdw

have you been trying the latest nightlies? I believe a recent commit
log touched upon this issue.

i think i have something from ~ feb 4th... i try not to upgrade too often when everything seems to be working ok...

but if it addressed this issue, i'll certainly give it a try.

From Feb 15:

granted, it isn't directly related. however, the server code already waits until the port is set to listen, so perhaps there is some indirect correlation in the code affected by this patch that would cause some systems to delay even though the port is 'listening'.

That patch should not change when the port is opened, except if the command line arg --httpport is set. In this case 6.5 crashed previously, so it should be an improvement on that...

oh well. either way. latest nightly should always be tested before
filing any bug report.

17 feb nightly seems to have fixed the browser issue for me, in as far as i can tell. very nice.

i'll try new nightlies from now on prior to considering filing a bug report. however, the techie mumbo jumbo in the ver log would have meant nothing to me.

i just hope that in going forward, i don't introduce new problems, just to be able to file a bug report for some current one.
