Is it possible to remove tracks from the library without doing a rescan? I run Slimserver 6.5.1 under Windows XP and OS X.

Thanks.

This would be a very useful feature. As libraries grow and the job of serving music gets pushed to older machines (I'm currently using a 6-year-old iBook 500 with 192Mb RAM), in order to reserve processing power for live tasks (photo editing, DTP, downloading, etc.) rescanning an entire library to replace tracks with erroneous tags becomes onerous (23 hours currently).

How difficult is this feature to implement? Is it a mysql issue?

Thanks for your efforts.

If the question is deleting tracks, then you have to do a full rescan. If instead, the question is one of editing tags on tracks that remain in the database, then you should be able to get away with 'scan for new and changed music'. Note that for this to work, your tagging software has to be set to update the timestamp of the file when it edits the tags. The default for several programs is not to update the timestamp.
