View Full Version : Squeezebox won't play!

My Squeezebox stopped playing tonight, for some reason. I can hit play on a track, and it will show up in my now playing, but the time gets stuck on 0:00 and no sound comes out. I've tried restarting my computer, turning the Squeezebox on and off, clearing out and rescanning my music files....still nothing.

Don't think it's a connectivity issue because network health seems good. I can see the track that's attempting to play in SlimServer (and it reports as "playing"), but like I said, it gets stuck at 0:00.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

EDIT: Fixed the problem by unplugging the Squeezebox and plugging it back in. No idea why the original error would have happened though... Any ideas?

EDIT 2: Hmmmmm, after trying to play certain albums that I recently added, the problem came back. Older albums seem to play fine. I don't think there's really anything different about the new albums that would make them fail, and I've added stuff since that plays fine. Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

Could be a problem with long file names...see this thread:

This sounds like the Batteries & Beer thread, too

BTW, if your SB gets wedged like that, you can force the SB to reboot by holding the Power button on the remote control.

Has anyone opened a bug ticket on this?

Thanks for the tip. I don't think it's a problem with long file names, however. One of the albums I had trouble with had filenames like:

01 Leama & Moor - Waterdrop.mp3

The interesting thing is that the FLAC version of this same CD works, so it's something to do with the file itself, I think.

But when I compare a regular file with one of the ones that don't work, I don't really come up with anything: http://www.dekaliber.net/_etc/comparison.gif -- the one of the left doesn't work, but the one on the right does...
