Oh yes, just one more....

I'm planning on running my SB3 on batterysupply. I've found a few interesting ones, but they're all on 6 Volts. Do you think it's doable with 6V instead of 5V? Will the SB3 hold?

If I recall correctly, supplying over/under voltage externally shouldn't damage the Sb3, but I wouldn't try. A better solution is higher voltage battery and regulator to put it right at 5V, IMO.

Here's an interesting thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29633

My SB3 seemed to detect the overvoltage and not want to run. That was with a series resistor that would have brought the voltage down to 5 volts once the SB3 was drawing about 1A.

I talked to Wayne @ Bolder, and according to him tha SB had it's limits at 5.35 Volts. It seems I need to figure out something else...

You can regulate down 6 volts to 5 with a LM1085.

DIY. Get a 12V SLA and use either a fixed (7805) or adjustable (LM317) voltage regulator. It should be very easy.
