Has anybody been successful in upgrading Slimserver on slackware? I have Slimserver 6.5 now and want to upgrade 6.5.1 on a Slackware 11. I can't remember how I initially installed 6.5, but I notice that it is installed in /usr/local/slimserver/... Thanks for the help.

I think I have answered my own question. Here is how I did everything.

To install on Slackware initially:

rpm2tgz Slimserver_versionnumber.rpm

then as root,

installpkg Slimserver_versionnumber.tgz

go to /usr/local/slimserver/ and run slimserver.pl

If an initial install, you might have to build the perl numbers, but the script walks you through that process.

To upgrade (this is how I did it anyway):

removepkg Slimserveroldversion

download new version

convert to tgz package as described above

installpkg Slimservernewversion.tgz

You will have to reconfigure it again, but that is easily done through the web interface at localserver:9000

That's it.
