View Full Version : Dropouts with XP

I agree...
I did spend several days trying to figure out what was causing the
drops, since they got really bad with the introduction of 5.0.1+
I started un-installing every piece of software one by one, but never
did get it to work when Slim was the Only running S/W.

So I re-formatted, re-installed XP and then Slim.
All was fine.

Then I added back every piece of S/W that was on the old system, and all
is fine.
Now I realize that I probably had some other 'junk' on the old system
(including older Slim installs) but Slim has run great ever since.
I now have much more running (i.e. Home Seer Home Automation etc.. Which
is Very processor intensive) and all is Great!

On the 'Bad' system I could readily go back to 5.0.0 and all would run
99% well. But as soon as I went to 5.0.1 (or any of the next 4 nightly
builds) I would never get more than 10 seconds of a song to play.

Just my $0.02.

It's possible, but there's not much to go wrong, the latest installer
cleans up really pretty well.

You can always throw away your SlimServer prefs file: C:\Program

And then start the server.
