Jason,
I had a similar problem. Check the squeeze box firmware version. I had
issues w/ firmware version 5. I switched to version 4 and it solved my
problem.

It's definitely version 5. Is this firmware problem documented
anywhere?

I'm able to "update" using the firmware update instructions found in the
FAQ: hold the brightness button for 5 seconds. Before I had a chance
to hit http://<server_address>:9000/firmware.html, it had already
reported that it updated the squeezebox. How would one go about
downgrading the firmware?
