View Full Version : No audio from Squeezebox

Hi Folks-

I just received my new squeezebox for Christmas, thank you Santa! I had
no problem installing the physical box and setting it up on the network,
worked great. All hardware should be this simple.

My slimserver software installation, however, was nowhere as simple.
I'm attempting to work with the RPM provided by Slimdevices, installing
it on my Red Hat 9 Linux laptop. After installing the package, I opened
my browser to http://127.0.0.1:9000. Mind you, many of my problems are
due to an unfamiliarity with audio streaming, but I feel that if the
documentation were anywhere as strong as that accompanying the hardware,
I'd be fine.

Anyways, I think I've got everything setup properly now. I can play
files through the web browser, and see them appear on the Squeezebox
interface downstairs. Unfortunately, I'm not hearing any sound through
my speakers. I've already triple-checked all the connections and volume
levels, everything works fine there, I'm just not hearing any audio.
Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,

I've successfully connected to the localhost slimserver using xmms and
"http://<server_address>:9000/stream.mp3", so it's definitely not a
server issue. At this point, it looks like a hardware issue. Guess
I'll have to wait until Monday when everyone's back from the holidays.

*sigh*
