In Beginner forum we discussed scrolling of feeds in SqueezeNetwork vs SlimServer. (Se thread: Smooth Scrolling?)

Therefore I ask you developers: Is it not posible to have Slim devices buffer feeds, same way as they buffer radio etc?

This way we hopefully could enhance scrolling via SN. (And SS for those who experience "bumpy" scolling here as well.

Does anybody feel challenged? :-)

This is really covered by bug 4622 "Move scrolling logic to SqueezeBox
firmware" - please vote on it as appropriate.

At present all of the scrolling display logic is performed in the server
software and each new screen is sent to the player. This smooth scrolling
sends lots of display packets to the player which is possible for a local
Slimserver, but not for SqueezeNetwork due to the bandwidth it would use.

Bug 3278: slimproto compression

Implementing this would probably also help.

I have put my vote in for bugs 4622 and 3278. Low tolerance for latency in display update has always struck me as the only flaw in the Squeezebox architecture. Player buffering (plus perhaps compressed transmission) makes a ton of sense to me. It could make the Squeezebox look cooler and feel more consistently responsive, and perhaps remove one of the barriers to seamless transition between SlimServer and SqueezeNetwork.

Thank you guys

I have also put my vote in for bugs 4622 and 3278 as well.
I will also encourage "Smooth scrolling" thread-reader do so, as well.
