View Full Version : The End Of Each Song Is Cut Off On Playback

Hi

Since upgrading to 6.5.1 (and maybe before that), all my songs miss the last 5-10 seconds or so on playback - with the next song starting straight away - before the last one has ended.

I have a large library of MP3 (LAME) and Apple Lossless albums, and use the iTunes interface. All was fine before the software upgrade.

This playback problem occurs on every playlist or album that I play. I have checked server settings, re-booted, re-installed etc., but to no avail.

Is this a known problem?

I thought at first it was a glitch that would be fixed, but it makes listening very frustrating - not to say unimpressive!

Thanks for any help!

i'm suffering from this bug as well, with a combination of apple lossless, aac and mp3s. the cut-offs seem to vary in length according to the format i'm streaming in - alac > flac cuts off around 6 seconds before the end of a sample track, alac > wav cuts off with 3 seconds to go, and alac > mp3 cuts off a good 15 seconds before the end.

i'm currently using SlimServer Version: 6.5.1 - 11004 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252 and have noticed a number of threads and bug reports along similar lines but without apparent resolution. i'm in touch with slim support but have had no substantive reply as yet. anyone got any ideas for further troubleshooting or workarounds?

I am experiencing this niggly little irritant as well.
According to Slim support, the problem could not be replicated on their end.
I found a work around - uninstall current version of Slimserver - then install 6.31.
Seems that the wmadec does not play nice in newer versions of the server software.
Because I use wma lossless, I must transcode as the hardware (built-in) does not support wma lossless.

Oh well, obsolete version but no truncation - I can live with that I guess.

The previous two people did not list WMA as a format they were playing.
Strange.

Good point.
Should have clarified that I suppose.
ok-here goes.
I am experiencing the same truncation problem using 6.51 with WMA lossless.
Workaround for this particular case is to install 6.31

Cheers!

thanks for the info folks!

i'll see if i can replicate the issue with wma lossless later - i've also got to send a sample file to slimdevices support to see if they can replicate the problem so i'll keep the board informed.

I've just upgraded from 6.3.1 to 6.5.1 and am experiencing somthing similar; only it's with FLAC images containing embedded cue sheets. Bug 1434 (http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1434), which was resolved over 18 months ago, best describes the problem. The gap is around 0.5-1 second, but it's definitely there.

Since the gallery view doesn't work for me either, and that's the only feature I even considered upgraded for, I'll be going back to 6.3.1. It seems every new release introduces more problems than it solves.

I have the same annoying problem here.
I'll try the 6.5.0.

It is the first time that happen to me. It didn't happen in my 2 last PC that I used as server.

Cheers
