I am in the process of encoding my ALAC to FLAC and am losing the album art (as expected).

After adding album art, it does not show up on the main album page, but will after clicking on the (blank) album.

How can I get the art to show up on the main album page?

Currently, I am using the latest version of Max to encode, and use Media Rage to add album art.

I know there is new flac software allowing album art to show up, but only see mention of this within Windows.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you done a full clear and rescan?

Andy,

Yes, I have.

Thanks,

I know it's not a very elegant solution, but uninstalling/reinstalling the server got me most of the way there.

Ok, was worth suggesting.

I'm talking about a full 'Clear my library and rescan everything' as opposed
to just 'Scan for new and changed music'. The latter doesn't pick up cover
art for the main lists I don't think.

I have done all that was suggested here, still having the same problem. Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

One thing to note...Most of the album covers were initially created within an iTunes app, and the album art resides within each (flac) album folder as "cover.jpeg", not "cover.jpg". I did add "cover.jpeg" to the Slimdevice menu.

Now, when I deleted Slimserver and re-started the app (as suggested), Slimdevice defaults to iTunes and starts scanning before I can tell it to not use iTunes. While doing this, album art starts to show up on the Album cover page. Once I stop it and tell it to not use iTunes, and rescan...no more cover art.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mark

Do you see artwork when you browse into a specific album (to list its
tracks) but not in the master Browse list?

If so, a full clear and rescan (not just a scan for new music) usually sorts
this.

I found that once I used "Album.jpg" and NOT "Album.jpeg", I was getting my covers to show. Try typing %Cover under the Artwork text window and Cover.jpg under the Artwork Thumbnail test window. Then go into a flac album folder and change that artwork folder to cover.jpg and see if that works. See if that does it.

Oh, and I am using the Fishbone skin, which you probably already know allows album artwork to show.

Andy,

Yes, it shows as you mentioned. I tried a full clear and rescan, but it didn't fix it... darn, darn, darn!!

annica,

I will try your suggestion tonight.

Anybody know if there is a way to do a mass rename of jpegs?
With around 700 albums, one by one will take some time.

Also, I have better part of 100 albums missing artwork. I know many programs exist which work well, but all seem to only integrate with iTunes. Since I'm using Flac, iTunes is out.

What are you using to add artwork to flac on OS X?

Thanks a lot guys,

Mark

Mark,
Yeah, thats the downside if it works for you to rename. I'm in the process of renaming around 400 albums :(( But a little at a time. And I find that I don't have to rescan to get the server to recognize the artwork. Just try renaming one folder and open up the server window and play that album. It should show the artwork. I use album.jpg, and it took me some time to realize NOT to type in the actual album title, but just the words Album.jpg. That did it for me. And I use Max to rip and encode, but of course it puts the actual album title for the folder, so I go into my music folder after the rip and change it to Album.jpg. Not too much of a hassle, esp. once I get all the other albums renamed. For the other previously ripped albums with no artwork, I've been using Google Image search to find the artwork and save to the flac album folder. Works real good. Good luck.

here are a couple commands you can run in the shell/terminal:

# rename anything.jpeg to cover.jpg
find ${music} \( -type f -name "*.jpeg" \) -print -execdir mv -f "{}" cover.jpg \;

# rename anything.jpg OTHER THAN cover.jpg to cover.jpg
find ${music} \( -type f -name "*.jpg" \! -name "cover.jpg" \) -print -execdir mv -f "{}" cover.jpg \;

Replace ${music} with the path to your music library
