Hi Dean, the plot thickens.

I recorded an .mp2 and when I play it back using slimserver the fault is
there. So it looks like I have a problem with mp2 rather than the streaming
itself.

The file is 128kbps CBR and sounds like it's playing double (or more)
speed.

I can play the same file using another media player (e.g. windows media
player) and it sounds fine.

Thanks for your help, as I learn more about my new favourite toy I hope to
put back into the forum.

Bren

Brendan.

Just a thought - how about recording a stream via Dabbar as a mp2 file and
then play it back via Slimp as a normal file to see whether its a streaming
problem or format ?

Graham

Whats the prog you use to run dabbar as a service ?

Thanks

Dean.

I have pretty good success with my wavefinder/dabbar
(XP)/slipm3(slackware). I am running an pre-V5 server though. I use a
freeware proggy to run dabbar as a service and it works mostly ok. probably
about 95% reliable.

Would love to hear from anyone using a Wavefinder and Slim Server
successfully.

Best regards,

I record mp2's from my Nebula DigiTV "Freeview" PCI card, and the
playback is choppy. I got round the problem by using David Sheldons
method (posted on the 15th):

If you have a machine where lame works, you can convert the mp2 files on
the fly:

Edit types.conf, find the line that says
mp3 mp2,mp3 audio/mpeg

replace it with 2 lines
mp2 mp2 audio/mpeg
mp3 mp3 audio/mpeg

Then edit convert.conf, and add the pair of lines:

mp2 mp3 squeezebox *
$lame$ --silent --mp3input -b 96 $FILE$ -

This will transcode mp2 files to mp3 on the server if the client is a
squeezebox.

This works as an interim fix, but it would be nice if the squeezebox
could play mp2s directly. Is this likely to happen?
