View Full Version : Display scrolling bug

Try this at home:

1. Queue up more than one song where the last item has a long enough
title or artist etc. to kick in the display scrolling
2. Play through from track 1 to the end of the playlist
3. The display on your SLIMP3 or Squeezebox will jump back to the first
track ready to play again on pressing Play (it doesn't -- it plays
whatever you last pressed play on but that's another bug). Track 1's
info is displayed.
4. If the last track in the playlist kicked in the title scrolling,
that track's info will *appear again*, scrolling across the display.
When it stops, track 1's info will display again. There'll be a pause,
then it'll be replaced by last track's info scrolling again.

Is that clear? That's what I'm getting.

clear enough that I can reproduce it. To add to it, during the scrollpause, the
proper song is showing. Once it starts scrolling, its the last song. This is
the same sort of bug that appeared in the initial version of Snow.pm. One more
button press seems to alleviate the problem. Clearly a fix can be done in the
screensaver code, so I'm looking into it. I suspect the bug is caused at the
point where the playlist is reset to the start, but I dont know offhand where
that is. anyone?

Also the same sort of behaviour I was getting with my experimental
lyrics code. The first scrolling text kept coming back.

I know what is causing it. I'm just not sure yet how to fix it. Once the
scrolling animation is started for the special case where progress information
is on Line1, the line2 isn't allowed to update. Its the same problem that causes
the screensaver not to engage while this same mode exists. If you dont have
progress bar, elapsed time, or time remaining, you should see the second line
work properly.

Oscar,

I've just checked in a fix that should solve this problem. Please try it out
and let me know if this corrects the issue you were seeing. Use cvs if you can,
or try the nightly release for 12-23-2003 or later.

cheers,
kdf

Yes, that's sorted it. Build 2003-12-24 for Mac OS X.
