Granted this is 7.0a1, but...

I grabbed the current unstable deb of slimserver and I get a lot of
warnings in my server.log. At startup a bunch of warnings about
plugins, for example:

[14:32:34.9605] Slim::Utils::PluginManager::enablePlugins (375) Warning: Couldn't load Plugins::CLI::Plugin
[14:32:34.9669] Slim::Utils::PluginManager::enablePlugins (375) Warning: Couldn't load Plugins::DateTime::Plugin
[14:32:34.9736] Slim::Utils::PluginManager::enablePlugins (375) Warning: Couldn't load Plugins::DigitalInput::Plugin
[...]

Then every second I get this:

[14:33:11.5082] Slim::Buttons::ScreenSaver::screenSaver (173) Mode [OFF.datetime] not found, using default

The web interface displays the player frame, but not the left (server)
side -- it doesn't return any content.

Just don't do this, if you don't have the time to subscribe to the
developers list. The trunk is currently undergoing huge changes and can be
broken any moment. Just stick with 6.5.1 if you want to listen to your
music. If you want to use the trunk version, use subversion to keep up to
date whenever there's a fix or change.

I was following trunk, but switched to using the debs. I just used
unstable because that's what my machine is tracking.

So I downgraded to "testing" which is 6.5.1.

How do I recreate the database? I tried renaming the slimserver
database and now I just get:

Unknown database 'slimserver' at /usr/share/perl5/DBIx/Class/Storage/DBI.pm line 654

I think I got it fixed by apt-get remove of the server, renaming
/var/cache/slimserver and reinstalling.

Also, there's now this:

Can't opendir(/home/moseley/playlists): Permission denied

Hum, I thought that was working before by setting GROUP in
/etc/default/slimserver.

/etc/default/slimserver has:

# To run slimserver as a particular group (for mp3 access) change this.
GROUP="moseley"

And that directory is:

moseley@bumby:/var/cache$ ls -ld /home/moseley/playlists/
drwxrwx--- 3 moseley moseley 4096 2006-12-04 16:22 /home/moseley/playlists/

$GROUP is not used in the startup script:

$ fgrep -c GROUP /etc/init.d/slimserver
0

Should I just add slimserver to the moseley group?

The debs are just nightly builds of the trunk.

From the shell do a "scanner.pl --wipe". Or use the web interface (Server
Settings).

That's another way to do it :-)

What about /home/moseley?

That's what I've ended up doing.
