I have a Squeezebox that often is left on random mix, and that normally works well. I would like to have it play only stuff suitable for random listening then, though, and not things like ebooks. On the other hand I like the ebooks to be available in the Squeezebox menus, I just don't want them to appear when it plays randomly.

Can this be done, somehow? Having slimserver skip entire directories when playing randomly would be good enough.

You can configure random play to only include certain genres. My I do
exclude the "Spoken" (or speech or whatever it's called) from that list.
See the web interface for random mix.

And Slimserver should also start using the iTunes tag designed to set exclusion on a per-track basis. Any other software making use of this?

Has this already been brought up as a feature request? Searhing in Bugzilla is only slightly more useful than search in the forum (which is not useful at all).
