View Full Version : MusicIP / MusicMagic and 6.5

I can't seem to get MusicIP to work with 6.5. Slimserver sees the MusicIP - but I don't get the mixes. I tried reverting to 6.3 and it works perfectly, but I want to get it working on 6.5 for some of the other plugins. Anyone have any tips?

KDF's advice to me was:

Make sure you have the latest nightly. Also make sure that you check
Plugins/MusicMagic/HTML and delete anything but the EN folder. Then
clear the caches.

I'm not a fan of nightlies - i try to stick to 'official releases' so i
ignored that. However, clearing out the musicmagic folder sorted it out.

I'm on 6.3.1 with MusicIP 1.7 and run AlienBBC. Is there any reason to upgrade? Do I get any new features or should I just stick with what works?

Is there any documentation on MusicIP/MusicMagic? I've downloaded and installed the MusicIP software. I can send a playlist to slimserver (although only one song, apparently a known issue (http://forums.predixis.com/index.php?showtopic=2407&pid=10360&st=0&#entry10360)). My slimserver connects to the local MusicIP service and I have a new option in my slimserver configuration.

What's supposed to happen now? I'd like to be able to create playlists based on a song from my SB, but pressing and holding play (http://www.musicip.com/mixer/slimserver.jsp) only plays the album starting with the current track.

Edit: Found the enable option for MusicMagic on the first settings page of slimserver. Trying that now.

Music Magic & SlimServer - doco >>-> http://www.musicip.com/mixer/slimserver.jsp

MusicIP has been re-organizing their website, but lots of documentation available here >>-> http://musicip.philosophicalzombie.net/document.php?id=61

Sending playlists from MusicIP to SlimServer has been a problem for some time. I use MusicIP from within SlimServer to generate playlists and save them in SlimServer.

Lots of discussion in both MusicIP and SlimServer forums on how to setup MusicIP to work properly. These days, after a server re-start I start MusicIP, then stop SlimServer, then start SlimServer. As the server only gets restarted once a week, it is not too difficult.

It took a while, but now it is up and running. I had a lot of problems starting the MusicIP service from the GUI, but once I followed the instructions on http://www.musicip.com/mixer/server.jsp it worked a lot better.

Once it is up and running, you can see the MM symbol after songs you can use to generate playlists in (at least) the fishbone web UI for Slimserver and on the Squeezebox itself. No symbol for songs in Favorites strangely enough.

Now on to tweak the settings!
