Hello,

I would like to control my home Linux server through web interface to play music that is already stored there. I would like to play it from the server itself and not from any clients, since I can easily connect amplifier and speakers. This server does not have keyboard or monitor, this is why I look for www control over it.

I know this is not the main purpose of SlimServer but it seems so advanced, with so many plugins :-) is there any that could help me? Maybe anybody has an idea where to plug-in to implement it?

Thanks,
Kacper

You don't need a special plugin, you just need a client that will run on your server. For example, you could run Softsqueeze headless. There is also "squeezeslave" but I'm not sure that's been updated for 6.5 yet.

Search the forums for squeezslave or slimp3slave. These are console tools
which act as a SB/SliMP3 emulators.

you can also just run a music player on the linux box and point it to localhost.

for instance, install splay:
$ sudo apt-get install “splay”

and then:
nohup splay http://localhost:9000/stream.mp3 -r &

i've got some more notes on playing music locally here:
