Why is my SB3 still sucking down massive amounts of data from SqNet even while "off"?

My Packetshaper is logging 72k sustained and 99k peak. Going on an hour now since I shut it off.

When I cycle power, it stops for about 10 seconds, then creeps right back up! I have the "news" screensaver active, and when I turn this off, it quiets down, but why does news take 72kbps?

That's bad for 2 reasons, one is it uneccesarily eats up my bandwidth, and secondly, it must really add up back on the SlimDevices network!

depends on what you have on the display. it is all delivered from
squeezenetwork.
it is a SLIM client after all. it does nothing on its own.

When my SB is not in use I prefer to leave it connected to SS rather than SN ... doesn't gobble up bandwidth that way. This does of course mean you have to leave your PC (or whatever you're running the server on) switched on. I guess that's not a problem if you have a NAS drive or dedicated machine.

I suppose this also imposes certain screen-saver limitations too.
