Thanks for the instructions but after trying them and
double checking the info my Internet connection was
dropped. When I told the computer to then
automatically get the IP address the internet
connection came back.

I guess my question is, could it be that Charter cable
doesn't allow static IPs? Why else would I change
everything and my access gets cut? Did I do anything
wrong?

Steps I did:
1. turn off Norton Internet Security
2. checked IP info via ipconfig/all
3. In control panel went to LAN and changed the info
to static. changed IP to 192.168.0.99, sub to
255.255.255.0 and gateway to 192.168.0.1 . I also put
in two of the three DNS info.
4. Restarted
5. Went to Netgear config site and added port
forwarding
6. Restart (just in case)
7. No internet access
8. Change LAN properties to grab IP automatically and
presto internet access comes back

What am I missing?

Thanks,

Dan

What was your IP before you changed it?

Not sure, but it sounds like your "router" isn't doing NAT. How many
computers do you have on your net?

Hello,

i just got and installed the squeezebox and now i'm stuck with updating
firmware.

the squeezebox wont let me update via wireless so i tried via local
(192.168.1.50). pointing to localhost:9000/firmware.html i can
initiate the firmware update - on the pc it says "completed" - but
on the device it says "firmware upgrade failed".

worst is: i have no possibility to exit this firmware update mode at
the device?? so when i power the device off an on it always wants to
update itself...how can one exit this or achieve a proper update? is
there any hardware reset?

HELP

Thanks for any help

Hi Pino,

What operating system are you using? We've had a report that firmware
updating has problems when the server is running on Win98.

problem i have no is that i cant setup the wireless anymore... when
trying to setup the encryption i get the error message "cant alloc
netpages dll:3" and resets

the device works now again, but only via cable. no clue how i can get
rid of this error message...
